Admins - delete this if it is not OK, but this is my rant for the day! Ok everyone, I dont want to seem all grinchy here, but I am finding more and more posts on facebook groups the closer we get to the holidays that are doing their best to play on our heartstrings for our money. I am talking about fellow Etsians too. So, here is my peeve - I am seeing posts that state if I dont get a sale today I will be shut down cause I cant pay my fees, or I am disabled and have 7 kids to feed, please like my shop and sales would be appreciated, or I have never had a sale in over a year, please help me, I need sales, or, the best one I have seen so far is someone who is donating all of her profits to help someone get invitro fertilization, so please buy from her or donate to the couple directly. What is this world coming to? Where are the ethics and professionalism? I would love you to purchase from me as well, but only if you truly like my things, not out of pity. Etsy is a MARKET PLACE, not a church social. Every time I see those kinds of posts, I am simply blocking the person, I am NOT going to spend my hard earned money on them. I support several non-profit groups all year round, I have been a foster parent for over 10 years, I was a single mom for eight, I have RA, and my brother is dying of throat cancer! Thats life! Suck it up buttercup and dont expect special treatment because life is hard. Believe me, it is a lot harder for millions of people in the world. If Etsy is not the marketplace for you, then try something else. I actually sell tons of things at craft fairs, and have only started on Etsy, and YES, it is tough, and YES, you do need to work hard on your SEO, and YES, you do need to pay fees, and play games, and take better pics, and, and, and - the list goes on. Bottom line is, pull up your big girl panties and just DO IT! Dont beg me for sales - do the hard work like the rest of us are doing. End of Rant!
