Admittedly, I live a charmed life. Occasionally though, there are bumps. To wit: I got off work tonight and walked from 58th St to 34th St only to find out that the PATH was closed systemwide. The only way to get home was to take the bus from the Port Authority. I walked back up to 42nd St, and joined a line that stretched nearly an avenue block long. The line moved relatively quickly considering the number of people in it. Approximately 20 minutes later, I got to the buses. When I got on, I was told it was $3. I asked about cross-honoring tickets and they acted as if they had no idea what I was talking about. I went to an information window and said, The PATH is shut down... The customer service person said, No, its not. News to me. Apparently it resumed service within 5 minutes of my trek to 42nd St. Im walking back down to 34th St and then in honor of my lost caloric friends, Im having a Big Mac for breakfast tomorrow. Oh, and I found a nickel on the sidewalk. Theres your silver lining.
