Admittedly, a 4 yrs old is probably too young for anything more than a hard ass hand spanking.... But aside from the specifics of A.Ps issue which im not really up on, this makes me think of how oblivious much of America is to the common practice of whoopin, particularly in the black culture. I wonder where we ever couldve gotten the idea that whipping a person yields desired behavioral results?(rhetorical question). I remember when we were little, you almost never came across male friends who werent getting whoopins, and if we did, you didnt quite trust them 100%..... It was like they just didnt have the same stakes as us, so how could they be investing as much risk as us into our scheme of mischief? What yall know about extension cord whoopins where the bath afterwards felt like you was skinny dippin in salt w/ open wounds..then having to stay home from school a couple days for the healing process to kick in? Worse yet, what yall know about the extension cords breaking on you, so the copper wires splay out from em? Switches couldnt last 3 licks when my pops was swingin em ........ LOL One time I got a beatin and then watched my uncle get a beatin cause the belt he got sent to go get for my whoopin wasnt durable enough for my grandpa to give a proper whoopin with...................On one hand, despite how I felt at the time, when I look back I have to admit that most whoopins I got benefited me in the long run more than hurt me, not so much in the physical pain being a deterrent, but the reflection that came after it.. On the other hand, its also subjective and a dangerous game to play of how much is too much, with a child, and not all kids grow and learn from corporal punishment........But all in all I think I just really hope not one more person approaches me in public talkin about how they got REAL whoopins back in their day......with a wooden spoon or flyswatter.
