Adopting a senior dog can be a wonderful experience. As I age, I am giving more thought about my next dog. Here are some of the things Im considering: 1. I am considering an older dog to be sure my dog does not out-live me (this is an extremely important consideration when getting a dog as I age). 2. Do I have the energy for a puppy? Do I really want to deal with potty training, lack of sleep, puppy nipping, trying to be on every second for my puppy? An older dog will likely be way less tiring and need less energy on my part...and, as I live with my current older dog, I really like how mellow he is and the calm energy at home and on walks. 3. Do I need a younger dog? I have the resources and big-heart to give an older dog a wonderful second chapter to their life. I cant think of anything better to do.
