Adoption Story by Lynn M Jenkinson: I used to be a vet tech and always had animals, especially dogs. My last dog was a Field Spaniel that we found as a stray. She was so so sweet, and my best friend. She was 19 when she died. Once I became an RN and a parent, I was working way too many hours and it would not have been fair to bring a dog into our lives. I was planning to retire in 2014, and started looking on the sites of our local shelters and I found Lucy. What a sweet, loving, smart and intuitive dog she is. She came up from the South (where there are a lot of high-kill shelters) with a group of other dogs. She had obviously been used for breeding, as she was lactating when I went to see her. I guess the people who had her realized she was not a full Rottie and dumped her. She has been such a blessing! We go for two runs a day in the local nature areas, and she goes everywhere with me. I may have rescued her, but she has also rescued me.
