Advent JJ for 12-22-14 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 --- Rachel is such a beautiful young woman. I wrote her a letter to say I knew she would not have chosen to be an unwed mother. Maybe not everyone would have chosen to stay the course. I wanted her to know how proud I was of her for choosing to do the right thing. This situation could have really gone in another direction. I told her that God doesn’t make mistakes. He already has a plan for this child. This baby has a purpose. It might be fulfilled before she’s born; it might be when she is 99 years old. But one thing is for sure; it will be in God’s time. As a little girl, I know this wasn’t Rachel’s dream - to be in this situation, at this time. The way it’s supposed to be with them together. She should be excited, along with her husband, about their baby girl’s birth. Instead, she faces the future alone. It reminds me of Joseph and Mary. I can’t imagine what went through their minds. His fiancé is expecting a baby that will be the King of Kings. She will have to give birth in a stable? God provided His Son with a mother and father to love him, care for him and discipline him while he was to be on this earth. Circumstances don’t matter when there is love and God. With God there is hope; without hope, there would be no purpose. Each of us has been put on this earth for a specific purpose. I can’t fulfill yours; you can’t fulfill mine. When Jesus died on the cross His final words were, “It is finished”. It took 33 years for Him to complete his purpose by dying for our sins, but in that moment is was. As a result of that act of love, as long as I put my hope and faith in Him, I will be able to join Him in heaven for eternity. Worry is like a rocking chair, yes you are moving, but you don’t get anywhere!!! Rachel’s pregnancy, delivery, and baby’s life will be as the Lord planned them.
