Adventures of a bookseller - digest #43 (not a real - TopicsExpress

Adventures of a bookseller - digest #43 (not a real number) went into a store that sells my books; owner says I sold a book; I responded SWEET! he goes The guy came back later that night; he found it on ebay for $3.75. I blink. Seriously? Yep, I told him he couldnt have his money back. I thanked him, then had to explain something that many authors do not realize. Unfortunately there are re-salers who will search out popular material, steal a copy of the ad, post a ridiculous price on it, but if you click on the actual ad, it directs you to an online sellers page, not the actual book. I am grateful for the store owner for standing up for the sale. But it brings me to another beef. Everyone LOVES freebees or to get something cheap, but when you are buying from an artist, an author, a musician, a craft artisan, you cant expect a bargain. And if they gift you with something, know that something in YOU made that gift important. Show appreciation in the work involved, the heart and soul that goes into these projects. Support your local talent!
