Adversity’s Reward When circumstances cause our paths to cross ….and life dispenses packages of pain We then begin to understand the cost Our precious Savior bore, becoming man. As we survive our sorrows and our cares ….and come to know how heavy they can be We learn to sense how others hurt, and where And just how deeply, and to what degree. ...only in the struggle known as life can mankind ever really grow to see Why Jesus, for the Pearl of Greatest Price Would volunteer to suffer on that tree. LD “…looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2 “The joy that was set before him” was your salvation and mine. For Rebecca and William Wortham, who are enduring great adversity right now with no end in sight. Written many years ago for another friend who was facing great difficulty. Time passes and circumstances change, but the memories of our hardest struggles build our resilience and our testimony to others. You will arrive at the other side of this, and your example will serve as guidance for those who are coming along the same path. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
