Under the Political Parties Decree, it is stated that the Registrar of Political Parties shall publish the information received in the gazette and in the media, and the costs of any such publication shall be paid by or recovered from the political party. He said majority of their members are donating $1 to $2 to the party and the high charge will affect SODELPA. The National Federation Party has also written to the Registrar of Political Parties and the Commerce Commission, raising concern that the party has been demanded over $5,000 as payment of costs for advertising of the declaration of the assets and liabilities of the party. NFP said it regards the advertisement cost under the Political Parties Decree 2013 to be harsh. The party’s Dalip Kumar said the government through the Registrar decided which media to publish the information in and agreed to the charges levied. He said the party did not have any say or opportunity to negotiate with any media for publication at a cheaper rate and the advertisements did not economize on space thereby leaving a lot of blank spaces for which the party has been charged.
