Advice Issued For: Baulkamaugh North, Bunbartha, Drumanure, Dunbulbalane, Invergordon, Katandra, Marungi, Mundoona, Naring, Numurkah, Sandmount, Waaia, Wunghnu, Yalca, Yarroweyah Fire Origin: WUNGHNU Incident Name: Issued: 10/02/14 7:16 PM This is a DOWNGRADED Advice message issued by Country Fire Authority for Baulkamaugh North, Bunbartha, Drumanure, Dunbulbalane, Invergordon, Katandra, Marungi, Mundoona, Naring, Numurkah, Sandmount, Waaia, Wunghnu, Yalca, Yarroweyah. Firefighters have stopped the spread of the grassfire in the WUNGHNU area and fire activity has subsided. The grassfire is now under control. You are no longer under any threat. Residents are advised to remain vigilant, continue to monitor for regular updates over the next couple of days as there is still fire activity in the area. People travelling in the fire affected area should exercise extreme caution as hazards such as fallen trees and powerlines as well as emergency vehicles and changed road conditions may be experienced. Assessments are currently being conducted on the fire affected infrastructure in the area for hazards and safety issues. Until this activity is completed, members of the public need to remain vigilant. The public will be advised when it is safe to re-enter the area. The only remaining road closure still in place is the Katamatite-Nathalia road between Katamatite and Numurkah. Smoke will be visible from nearby communities and roads. A Recovery Centre, 36 Melville St, Numurkah, will be open on Tuesday 11th February from 10 am until 5pm. In attendance will be Council, DHS and DEPI to discuss personal hardship and wellbeing issues, animal welfare issues and any other recovery issues. The next update is expected by 11/02/14 10:00 AM or as the situation changes. Safety Information: If you have time, check your neighbours to see if they are monitoring conditions.
