Advice Issued For: Buchan, Sunny Point, Buchan South, Murrindal, W Tree, Gillingall, Holstons, Timbarra, Reedy Flat Fire Origin: 20KM NW BUCHAN Incident Name: TIMBARRA - GIL GROGGIN Issued: 08/03/14 11:00 AM This Advice message is being issued by the Department of Environment and Primary Industries for Buchan, Sunny Point, Buchan South, Murrindal, W Tree, Gillingall, Holstons, Timbarra, Reedy Flat. The fire north-west of Buchan remains contained with no active fire behaviour observed to date, and there is currently no threat to communities. Fire crews will continue to patrol and black out the fire edge over the coming days. Although there is currently no threat to communities, you should continue to stay informed and monitor conditions. The next update is expected by 09/03/14 11:00 AM or as the situation changes. Additional Information: People who are travelling, especially ahead of the Labour Day long weekend, are encouraged to plan their trip and stay informed. Many areas in Gippsland are not affected by fires. The region is open for business as usual, with plenty of beautiful places to visit, see inspiredbygippsland.au. While summer is now over, conditions remain extremely dry as the state has had no significant rain over the past few months. Fire danger over the long weekend is expected to be between low to moderate and high but fire restrictions are still in force across most of the state. Travellers should check for park closures and traffic.vicroads.vic.gov.au for road closures. Campers need to ensure their campfires are extinguished before heading home.
