Advice Needed: I need your help. My child is 4 and was diagnosed with Autism at a year and a half. I currently have BCBS of Illinois and his OT therapy hours through this recertification every few months that seems to take BCBS forever. The therapists have tried to submit all paperwork early and were told they refuse to look at it until his previously approved therapy sessions are filled with them. The delay in waiting causes him to regress. I also do not understand why they need to review as often as they do. It is not like 6 weeks of OT therapy will make this all better like he just had a routine surgery done and now all is better. I am told by his school that he doesnt qualify for summer program because of my income and insurance coverage but what good does it do my son if the insurance takes almost the entire summer to approve more therapy sessions. Plus we have an issue getting him multiple therapy sessions at one time. Like all he needs is OT and not speech. They would not even Cover his hearing test because child is non verbal was not good enough reason for them to agree testing his hearing for the possibilities of him being deaf or other issues. I sometimes think I would bed better off unemployed and letting the government pay and provide services. At least when that happened before he turned three he was able to get OT, PT and speech. So frustrated.
