Advice for those handstanders out there who are working towards a one arm handstand. The first thing you need to be able to do is to consistently hold a one minute straight handstand. Be comfortable on your hands. Practice shifting your weight from one hand to the other. Elevate your shoulder blades as much as you can, hiding the ears with your shoulders. Arms in line with the shoulders. Puuuuuuush!! Puuuush!!!! Go to a half straddle. Then, taking your time, start shifting the weight of your legs and hips (micro bend on the hips), Notice: Shoulders SHOULD NOT move at any time, only legs with the hips. Once you feel the weight on your supporting hand, you can start to lift the opposite hand going to the finger tips while bending the elbow. Dont let the opposite shoulder lift. Practice 5-10secs finger tips hold (Dont lift the opposite hand, stay on the finger tips) Then move to the other side, please make sure you have enough strength to do so. Otherwise wait until your next handstand. It is very important that you dont fall moving side to side. (Bad habit) If you dont feel ready, do the weight shift one at a time until you feel comfortable to do both sides in one go as seen in the video. And always...BREATH!! And point your toes ;) Good Luck and Happy 2015 for everybody.
