Advice needed. I have an 11-month-old Bernese Mountain Dog, recently spayed, microchipped and dewclaws removed... the stitches on her wrists have ruptured, the wounds are infected, and I cant get her to hold still! We have her lightly sedated right now, but she gets incredibly excited when I take her out, and shes so strong I cant keep her under control! She has a cone on but it seems to drive her crazy on leash and she starts whipping around like a whirling dervish when I take her out to potty (not her normal on-leash behavior). Back to vet tomorrow for bandage change/wound check... but in the meantime Im dreading her next trip out. Today she managed to wriggle out of her collar and raced up the stairs, meaning, she had to come back down the stairs on those poor ruptured feet. (Shes 90 lbs, no way I can carry her.) Any advice for keeping her calm and controlled?
