Advice to Male and Females: Dont shut the door Dear Irene De Waal, kindly hide my ID. Brothers and sisters, we are in a generation that sees it right to just dumped people whenever it feels like. Four years ago, I was dating this lady. We dated for two years. I got scholarship and I asked her that I pursue my studies. Before I left, I made sure she was in school, paid for her tuition. While overseas, I could even invite her for visits and all was celebratory. To my surprise, she dumped immediately after leaving for Zambia; she ‘seemed’ to have met this businessman. I called and all I was told was “I am settled and I have a better man who cares about my feelings.” I asked, “You mean just caring for your feelings?” I said, “There must be something wrong with you. You are not just an emotional-feeling being.” I asked how she was doing in school, she never answered. I was later told by the young sister that she used to spend some of the moneys you sent on this “silly man who used her” asserted her sister. Today, she calls me asking for forgiveness. I told her, “I hold nothing against you. You are free lady. You can free to mingle with others like you said who care about your feelings and not me who you called names. Brothers and sisters, from this past relationship, I have learnt many things, just to mention few: (i) those that care for our wellbeing will be with you in dark moments; (ii) those who love you will leave in good state; and (ii) those who love the show-off lifestyle get used and dumped. I was dumped for asking her to purse her academic life; she was dumped for misusing moneys that I did sweat for. Nature has ways of paying us back. Lesson: Dont shut the door because you may need to use it to come out of the house. Above, respect those who have good intentions for your wellbeing.
