Advice to the children of my children: History books are not written by the slave, nor the vanquished in war. History is written by the slaveholder, the victor and as such should be taken with a grain of salt. If their declarations prompt you to hate, a gender, a skin color, or to lack compassion see it as a sign of their impending imbalance. Give little credence to presentations of truth as being valid or sound merely because they are told, or there is a lineage for them, or widely believed, or written, or even seemingly logical or reasonable if they make one people seem greater than others by their mere being, their color, gender, or presence. One’s character is not inferred, but lived and thinking it as so is not proof of it. Conviction is not proof of soundness, nor is consistency alone, nor is respectability of the person speaking. Hatred is not the base of humanity nor that which provides health. Inquiring, investigating, and exploring is the process that allows you to make those changes that keep you human. Do not mistake being human for being a god, nor act in a manner that your feelings alone decide reality. The most addictive drug is the heroine we make from polarizing issues to occlude facts. Facts, as does morality emerge as you seek the health of your own being, your community, and your world. ~FM
