Advise and reassurance needed please Last weekend my horse passed away in the night in his paddock with his field mates . One of which our traditional cob (woody)who has been with him since a yearling and is now 5. And our fjord who is quite new to the paddock. Tonight woody didnt want to leave the field had to lead him in his dually head collar and he was rearing and trying to spin to get bak to the paddock to the mare . After 20 min I got him onto yard , tried to settle him with hay , was lacing the gate back to field , so tied him up on yard , usually fine, but was rearing , pulling back, twisting , stomping, tried to brush him amd talk o him to settle and he really kicked out at me to hurt me , not like him at all. So I put him in ménage to send him away ams try to let off his negative energy. He wouldnt go, I was making myself huge, slapping rope on my leg ams squawking , he square up to me and was bouncing on his fronts threatening to rear and tossing his head. then he looked me square in the eye snorted and ared a foot away from me , I left ménage to get my hat as I was nervous and when I returned he had calmed and let me rub him all over ams he was nudging me with his head, He didnt eat his dinner just wanted to go back out. Is this attachment usuall from a bereaved horse or is it something else? He has always been taken to yard alone and I wouldnt have said was overly fussed by the mare , want to do right by him but not cause long term problems by ignoring issues . Ay advice welcomed thank you
