Advisory: Murchison Rd. is closed between Langdon St & Normal Ave. due to an early morning crash; traffic is being diverted. (Fayetteville, NC) – On Friday, January 16, 2015 at approximately 2:40 am, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to a report of a single vehicle crash along the 1700 block of Murchison Road near the State Avenue intersection. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2008 Nissan Altima was traveling north on Murchison Road towards Ft. Bragg, when it left the roadway and collided with a utility pole. The vehicle caught on fire after the collision; however the driver was removed from the burning vehicle and was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he is listed in serious condition. The name of the driver is being withheld until his family has been notified. Murchison Road has been closed in both directions from Langdon Street to Normal Avenue. Motorists needing to travel in the immediate are for school or business this morning, are encouraged to utilize Langdon Street from Murchison Road or Ramsey Street. All other traffic is encouraged to travel Bragg Boulevard until the roadway can be reopened. WRAL TV
