Aerial and Truck Mosquito Spraying Scheduled for Today and This Week Joint Base Langley-Eustis has announced that the U. S. Air Force will be spraying Craney Island and areas of Portsmouth this evening, Tuesday, July 23rd, weather permitting. The Portsmouth neighborhoods that will be sprayed include: Churchland West, Peachtree, Long Point, Bishops Green, Hidden Cove, River Shores, Merrifields, Edgefield Townhomes, and Windmill Shores. The aerial spraying is scheduled from approximately 6 p.m. until dusk. A specially designed C-130 Hercules aircraft will be flying between 150 and 200 feet over the areas spraying Dibrom Concentrate. The City of Portsmouth’s Mosquito Control Division announces the truck spraying schedule for this week, weather permitting: Tuesday, July 23rd, weather permitting: Churchland Square, The Villas, Churchland Forest, Ebony Heights, Hosier Oaks, North Siesta Gardens, Siesta Gardens, Belvedere, Greenfield Farms, Sterling Cove, Sweetbriar, Nottingham, Westmoreland, Sterling Point, Green Acres, Pinehurst, Hatton Point, Cavalier Forest, Hunters Point, River Pointe, West Norfolk, Park Manor, Mayflower Park, Elizabeth Manor, Hodges Ferry, Manor View, City Park, Simonsdale, Hodges Manor, Collinswood, and Hattonsville. Wednesday, July 24th, weather permitting: Cavalier Manor, Crystal Lake, Truxton, Highland Biltmore, Bide-A-Wee, Loxley Place, Fairview Heights, Cradock, Port Norfolk, Mount Hermon, Lynn Shores, Merrimac Point, Lake Shores, River Park, Glenshellah, Waterview, and Westhaven. Thursday, July 25th, weather permitting: Shea Terrace, West Park View, Westbury, Prentis Place, Brighton, and Southside If weather conditions prevent spraying, the spray schedule will be shifted to the following day.
