Affirmation deficit syndrome: A tendency toward frequent - TopicsExpress

Affirmation deficit syndrome: A tendency toward frequent self-flattery symptomatic of an affirmation deficit, a shortage of confidence, the product of expecting more affirmation than one is getting, and therefore a hand-to mouth starvation for affirmation that one addresses by affirming oneself frequently. Hummingbirds have to eat every 15 minutes or they’ll starve. People with Affirmation Deficit Syndrome need to hear themselves affirmed about as frequently. We say what we need to hear and some people need to hear themselves affirmed more than they would without singing their own praises. Often mistaken for hubris, affirmation deficit syndrome is actually a symptom of low self-esteem.
