Afghanistan may stand on its feet the day it can trans-trade - TopicsExpress

Afghanistan may stand on its feet the day it can trans-trade between Pakistan and its northern neighbors. As soon as it can provide the necessary security etc, roads, rail and pipelines will show up out of nowhere. The same is true for several other Muslim countries as well -- including Pakistan. Clearly one should acknowledge the insults and injuries our brother Afghanistan has suffered, and instead of arrogantly offering advice -- we should humbly focus upon trans-trade between china and the gulf states especially Iran. road and rail links along with pipelines from kashgar to gwadar and taftan (NOT passing through Lahore and Karachi but quetta and DI Khan for crying out loud!) are the name of the game. Legislation and foreign affair/diplomacy should go in tandem. One way free trade agreements and visa free travel to China and Iran. also invite their rail companies, their road vehicles to come over. The road to Kabul is to demonstrate to Kabul what it means to be a neighbor: show them how we can benefit from trans-trade: and theyll forget about india and invite you in! that is our only edge over india in this matter -- they have to get Pakistan out of the way -- we have to get the durand line out of the way! any other way: we dont stand a chance.
