Africa-UK Influencing and Engagement Small Grants Scheme As part - TopicsExpress

Africa-UK Influencing and Engagement Small Grants Scheme As part of Africa-UK Phase II, a comprehensive training and capacity-building package will be offered that incorporates a pilot small grants scheme of up to £2,000 for diaspora organisations (or diaspora consortia), and training in advocacy and project cycle management, including fundraising, and ongoing mentoring and coaching. Africa-UK is managed by AFFORD (African Foundation for Development) and delivered in partnership with the African Council Scotland/NIDOS (Network of International Development Organisations in Scotland), Sub-Sahara Advisory Panel (SSAP), Centre of African Studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and the Diaspora Volunteering Alliance (DVA). African diaspora organisations, groups and networks are invited to develop and submit bids for a small grant of up to £2000, for each diaspora organisation (or consortium),on a competitive basis. As part of the bidding process, groups will be expected to indicate the theme of their chosen influencing and engagement activity, details of the activity, and the decision-makers they intend to target. Criteria will be based largely on the wide-reaching impact of the chosen influencing and engagement activity. The goal of the Small Grants Scheme is to enable the diaspora sector to engage decision-makers in influencing policy affecting Africa’s development. Each grant awardee will be expected to recruit between 5 and 20 members of the diaspora with input from AFFORD and Africa-UK delivery partners. Together, grant awardees and selected members of the diaspora will undergo the training element and then develop action plans (for their influencing and engaging activities) with mentoring and coaching assistance from the Diaspora Volunteering Alliance (DVA) to support delivery of their activities.
