Africa is calling for Action! THE CALL: Together, let us take action against Climate Change! A film about Climate Protection Programme of the United Evangelical Mission (UEM) in the African Region. It is an outline of what UEM is doing to promote Climate Justice at global level and specifically in Africa. Although climate change is a global reality, its predictions show a very bleak future for Africa. The most vulnerable populations are in the South and are already severely affected by the impacts of climate-related extremes, such as heat waves, droughts, floods, cyclones, and wildfires. Impacts of such climate-related extremes include alteration of ecosystems, disruption of food production and water supply, damage to infrastructure and settlements, morbidity and mortality. As it is shown in this short video, extensive adaptation efforts, awareness creation, engagement of the youth, networking and advocacy work is crucial in Africa, but these efforts should be supported financially and politically by many different stakeholders in Africa and elsewhere around the world. A long-term climate finance from developed countries to the most vulnerable developing countries is necessary in combating climate change. Swift actions to tackle climate change would reduce the damage. The purpose of this short video is therefore to make a call for more involvement of various stakeholders in Africa and elsewhere in the world to participate in actions for protecting our planet.
