Africa is mo important than evr to the security n prosperity of the international community. We must move then frm politics of rhetoric to that of ideas n political parties built around individuals to groupings based on ideology. To achiev inclusivity, we must do away wit the politics of destruction. The zero sum game nature of political discourse that you must loose fr me to win has no place in the modern world. Africa however remains targeted by drug traffickers, smugglers, arms dealers, Fundamentalists n many mo who have detected a good environment. We are looking fr political leaders who can appreciate n help us solve these challenges. Leaders who wil focus on creating jobs n wealth. There is a budding concensus amply corroboratd wit the 2008-09 global crisis on wht reduces poverty as a combination of sustaind economic growth (mo jobs), stable consumer prices (no inflation) n targeted redistribution (subsidies only to the poor). The technology to protect the middle class frm slipping into poverty n the poor frm sinking deeper, is stil rudumentary in the developing world. We need to reform our politics. This wil mean, a fundametal break frm our dorminant political culture that is characterisd by ethnicity, impunity, rent seecking n corruption. Bt the same peopl who have been attributed to belong to this old brand of politics, unimaginativ and which lacks ideas on how to transcend the old fashioned political pradagim have continued to show an interest in re running fr leadership. If we cant reform our politics, we cant grow the economy in any way. Kenya today is a world leader in dvelopment of IT applications in mobile money technology and in banking software. IT companys take a day or two today to have a spare part frm a global hub in Europe to Nairobi. Once the part gets to the airport, it can take up to three wks to clear it and get it to a repair warehouse. How can we be an economic hub with such an inefficiency? Our commitnent to CHANGE the continent is unwavering n undeniable in both word n deed.
