African American girls are facing a variety of challenges that threaten their wellbeing, including over-discipline and under-achievement in school, heightened incidents of violence in their lives, and overrepresentation in the juvenile justice system. Despite these significant challenges, there are few opportunities for African American girls to tell their stories, and for those who are invested in their futures to focus our collective attention on how to best support them. This Town Hall Meeting will provide the opportunity address the challenges that interfere with the success and achievement of Black girls in school and in society more broadly.
