After 10 years of getting roughly 80% of our financial support - TopicsExpress

After 10 years of getting roughly 80% of our financial support from Stanford University, Philosophy Talk can no longer count on that level of support from the University. Going forward, we can expect to receive no more than half of our budget from the University. We feel nothing but gratitude for the generous support Stanford has given us over the years. We fully accept the challenge of raising a significantly greater portion of our revenue from independent sources. That challenge is substantial. Potential sources of support for us are few and far between. That is just one reason we introduced our online Community of Thinkers a few months ago. The Community of Thinkers turns ownership of our program partly over to you, our listeners. It establishes a direct relationship between Philosophy Talk and you -- a relationship not mediated by the stations, the big three Public Radio networks or the corporate underwriters. Please consider becoming a Partner in our Community of Thinkers! Join like-minded fans, our hosts John Perry and Ken Taylor, our stable of featured contributors from a wide variety of disciplines, and our many guests, in a collective search for enlightenment, wisdom, and joy. The doors of our community are open to all -- even those who choose not to contribute. But those who take ownership of our program and choose to become Partners enjoy special benefits. These include a subscription to our weekly podcast, the ability to initiate discussions in our Community Forum, access to our Audio-Video Vault of web-exclusive content, a private blog space, and much more. It is easy to become a Partner. Just make a tax-deductibble donation to Philosophy Talk at the levels shown below. (But, again, even if you choose not to donate, you can still sign up for guest privileges within the Community -- which include the ability to read our show blogs, stream each weeks episode, and participate in live chats) Remember, your fully tax-deductible donation helps keep Philosophy Talk on air and online. It empowers us to keep fighting the good fight, against the coarsening of our culture and our public discourse. Please be part of our effort to bring critical thought and intelligent discussion to a broad audience in an accessible, engaging and enlivening manner.
