After 10 years of touring China and hours lost on the phone trying to order food and still getting it wrong, I have finally worked out a fool proof way to order room service in places where you dont speak the language. 1) Pick desired food. 2) Turn to Chinese section of menu, and locate corresponding item. 3) Walk to reception. 4) Show item in Chinese (or other local language) along with room number to receptionist, and have them order it for you! It unfortunately slightly negates the point of room service due to needing to leave the room, but at least reduces the chances of receiving a Thousand Year Old Egg (Google it.... or dont).
