After 26 yrs its still amazing how much info is still hidden at different locations in Ottawa re THEFT of 1/2 of Siksika land n resources & the trail of broken Treaty promises....yesterday I was w the Don Yellow Fly digging thru 1903-4 Sessional papers @ Indian Affairs library to validate Casle as a reserve to support past/present Elders testimony in legal action. Claims research is like finding the needle in the haystack due to volume but also fr paper trails created by Govt agencies n legislation. But the main reason for research is cuz Indian agents began destroying documents wen traditional & elected leaders started inquiries in the 50s n legal action in 1960! The 1st Siksika to speak to the Senate/Parliament was Teddy yellow Fly. My Mom told me stories @ her Uncle Ted & my office has since found some of his eloquent speeches which is now critical evidence. Plus minutes fr Parliament, very derogatory but states that food, ammunition, medicine, cattle n hospitals are thru Treaty but Govt was cutting back to make us self supporting?? Leo & Maureena PYM arrived last nite n located historical Treaty sources at the Museum of Civilization. But travel for my staff was denied & we were unable to conduct research on this & other claims in order to file with Feds and start negotiations Next, we met w AFN Sr legal council for advice based on whats going on at the Natl level in preparation for tomorrows historical event** The Chief; Council reps Barry YF, Marcia WC, Casey M & Warren DC arrive tonite....20 yrs ago, June/94, we rejected a &1.5 cash only offer n began litigation > after we exchanged evidence w Dept of Justice in 2005 Siksika Claims tabled a draft Proposal in 2010 Tomorrow Canada will formally present a Treaty based offer for Settlement > 20 yrs after we rejected the cash only offer....
