However, Vidulfo Rosales Sierra, the families’ lawyer, rejects the federal prosecutors’ claims about the circumstances surrounding the Iguala events, and regrets that the authorities are not providing more certainty and facts for the families. He instead accused authorities of exhibiting a “clear intent of social repression.” Rosales insisted that the government’s legal analysis three months after the crime “is an incredibly weak investigation, with many holes in the case, that is ineffective in gathering a body of evidence that could offer clarity for the families.” He added that the police still need to match their data with the federal data, as well as with the students’ observations “to strengthen the investigation.” He also cast doubts on the state’s version of the story, which “lacks complete data.”
