After 39 seasons with San Francisco Opera, today marks the retirement of Gerd Mairandres, our Head of Wig and Makeup. Gerd is a much beloved fixture not only here but in the entire opera community -- a man who also donates his time and talent to UCSFs Friend to Friend program and helps cancer patients with wig and makeup styling.
