After 4 long haul flights, 1 short haul flight, 12 different beds, in 8 different countries, temperature ranging from -4 deg C to 22 deg C untold km on tour busses and plenty of walking and stairs climbed we arrived home yesterday morning to a balmy Auckland morning. We have had a fantastic 5 weeks away, we had our lows and our highs, we have eaten all sorts of food experienced other cultures and spent Christmas in An Italian Castle (Castelbrando) in the Dolomites in Northern Italy. We experienced the heaviest snowfall Cortina dAmpezzo Italy for 20 years. We experienced the severe flooding in UK, and the unusually high winter temperatures in California. The highlight are many and will be remembered for years to come but there is no doubt that sharing a 5 course Christmas Lunch with 70+ fellow tourists in the Great Hall at Castelbrando will be remembered for many years to come. The origins of the castle date from 46 AD and these are visible today with the current castle dating back to 1200 AD. this was a fantastic place and photos do not tell the full story. Thanks Janice for the sharing this adventure and I know at times the stairs were a challenge but you have done exceedingly well and we will remember this holiday for many years.
