After 5 hours of surgery, mom is in recovery. They replaced the screws in her front plate with longer, larger screws. Went in thru the back as well and placed another plate, anchoring it from C2-C6&7. He removed more of the tumor having better access from the back. Her cervical bones did not seem as strong from the back (osteoporosis, cancer, and radiation) so he applied an epoxy, cement, to further support the area. This is great also since she is so severely claustrophobic that she cannot tolerate the cervical collar. Recovery should be a little easier this time as mom does not have to go thru radiation at the same time. All thoughts and prayers are so appreciated!
