After A Year By The Sea was first published, Oprah hosted Joan on her television show. Two years ago, the Queen of Talk revisited this segment for an OWN Lifeclass. For those of you who havent seen it, here tis... Last week, whilst interviewing Sharen Peters for our WaveMaker campaign, chills ran up my spine. Why? Because she shared the story of a friend who stumbled upon Joans memoir at a Book Swap (thats a fancy word for the shed at an East Coast garbage dumps transfer station). The camera was rolling, so I had to bite my tongue until we broke for lunch. You see, the VERY SAME THING had happened to me: A Year By The Sea appeared on my kitchen counter...traded at a Book Swap by my then-wife. Another interviewee told us HER copy fell off the shelf of a book store as she walked down the aisle! This got me thinking: is Joan Erikson working overtime...making sure Joan Andersons amazing story finds its way into the hearts and homes of readers who need to hear were all as unfinished as the shoreline?
