After Dad Stiller passed away in July 1987 the Stiller clan would come together from across Canada for our annual Thanksgiving weekend. This picture was the last time we all met in 2009 for Mom’s 95 birthday. We met again this summer for a celebration of her life just shy of 99 years of age. Today we had our whole family along with my brother Randy with his family and Cristina’s family. Joel did a master chef job of cooking the turkey [wow I have been replaced LOL] and new traditions are being created. It seems sad to face the first Thanksgiving without either of our mothers living though it is part of the process of grieving with thanks giving. We never have enough time with loved ones and then we miss them when they are gone. For those facing this thanksgiving with a loved one missing, my heart goes out to you. As I write about friends all week, our family is a big part of friends. When family relationships are positive we have a plus signs on our healthy friend chart. When they are strained of broken we have a minus on our healthy friend chart. Right from creation God said “it’s not good that man should be alone.’” So Adam received a help meet/partner and friend. This week let’s think of family friendships with a desire to make time, to call, to care, to communicate and if needed to, even forgive and we will find There IS Hope and a Bright Future.
