After Fajr this morning the Imaam read takbir. I applaud the Imaam for having the courage of his conviction. In this case however, I disagree. We should follow our Mufti. We should follow MUIS. Thats right folks. Your eyes didnt deceive you. I repeat. In this issue we should follow MUIS. There are fiqh arguments on both sides of the issue. Im inclined to follow the view in this issue we defer to the religious authority of the locality. No matter how imperfect. And MUIS is certainly far fr perfect. But only in issues of fiqh. When the issue is grave enough to impact Aqeedah , we should have the courage to stand up and voice our concerns. Brothers and sisters, there are so many issues that have caused disunity in the Ummah. The worse thing that can happen is that we now start celebrating different Eid too. Interestingly because of timing differences the takbir was done before the actual pilgrims in Mekah did it. There are in Musdzalifah now n its middle of the night, before fajr. They havent done the melontar n tahallul. A bro Fr UK reminded me the blessing of having a central Islamic authority - no matter how imperfect. Where he comes from its common to hv different ethnic communities having different Eid. To an extent it becomes difficult to lobby the state for a public holiday. I agree there R some blessings that comes with MUIS. We should make shukr for them. At the same time we must struggle to our utmost to not be satisfied with the status quo. And endeavor to change it. The struggle may be long. We do it for the Sake of Allah azzawAJal. So that our children and grandchildren can live with even more Blessings of a religious authority that can act independently. And fears only Allah azzawajal. Wallahualam. Barakallahufeek.
