After I got my lunch combo today, i noticed a car parked next to mine, idling, with a baby in its carseat in the back. The doors were unlocked and the baby seemed to be sleeping. I looked back into the establishment and saw a line of other people getting their lunch. I figured babys mom was inside grabbing a pizza. I understood. I realized a few things could have happened at that moment by my actions. So i got in my car and turned it on and started eating. Rolled my window down and watched my idling neighbors unlocked car and baby. A few minutes later, mom comes out with pizza. Oblivious to me, she gets in her car, talks to baby, and puts it in reverse to drive away. I didnt get her attention to tell her my opinion of her choice. I didnt quote news articles or kids and cars stats to her. I just did what I hoped we all could do. I attempted to be her village and look out for the safety of her kid as I would do my own. I think if I could have said anything to her, it would have been, I just wanted you to know that I stayed to watch your little one, not judge, because Ive been there. I was worried because your doors were unlocked and your car was idling and anything could have happened in the blink of an eye. I didnt call the cops or the state because Ive got your back and I understand why you did what you did. Have a great day. #tryingtobethechange
