After I taught my class tonight I had one of the members come up to me and tell me thanks, I earned my donut. I laughed but then said Why a donut? You just worked really hard and now you are going to eat a donut?? You see, I used to be like this. Exactly. Workout super hard and the eat whatever I wanted never stopping to think that not only was it completely UNdoing all of my hard work but that I was in the I deserve it mode. Run 6 miles, bring on the ice cream! I used to see exercise as a way to burn more calories, create a deficit and then head to kitchen at night to binge. I deserved it. Right?? I was training for a marathon and you know what I thought about on my long runs....what I get to eat after. CRAZY!! I have come a LONG way with my relationship with food and I have tons more on the way for you, but for now take this one thing away... Exercise is no longer healthy when you abuse your body with food. Exercise is a privilege that we GET to do. We GET to run, walk and lift weights. We are ABLE to do all of these things to be healthy and fit moms. We GET to be positive role models for our children who are watching every single move. Exercise is a choice we get to make. And while we may dread it some days, it is a GIFT. A gift for your body.
