After I was here about 3-4 years my interest in Amature radio resurfaced again. I had a patient who encouraged me. My code came back easy and I got my Novice again. Got upgraded equipment. It was really fun. Started getting foreign places. One night I got a return call from Russia. Could tell by call letters where it was. Exchanged information. At this time of the Cold War, we were sepposed to sent to a box in Moscow. His name whas in the world book. I sent to his address. In about a monthe I got a letter and card written in English. It was a nice letter said he was an electrician, had a family. I got another card from Russia also from a Listener. He had heard my signal, and even though he could not transmit, he heard me and sent me a card. I wodrked New Zealand, Australia, all over Europe, South America. One night I herard a acall from Anartica. There was so many trying to anwer him it was just a buzz. When it stopped I heard my call come back. I was on voice by then. he was at one of the US starions there. I finally got so busy and eventually dropped it. I still retain the liscense. KD0DN.
