After Monday evenings severe weather, village personnel have been working diligently to respond to the increased calls of service that naturally arise, all while continuing to provide regular service as well as to prepare for the holiday weekend and its impact on the village. The Department of Public Works has been working around the clock to clear sewers and remove downed trees, and the night of the storm, paid-on-call firefighters were helping to remove trees from roadways and off of residences. Throughout this time, many of our own police personnel working each day are in the same predicament as our citizens. One officer has a flooded basement after lost power, another has roof damage, both of which have not had time to fully be addressed yet. Many more of our police officers and records clerks have been without power at their own homes as they continued to patrol or to otherwise provide public service to the residents of Park Forest. We recognize the frustration that occurs during a loss of power, but we also know that energy crews are working diligently to restore power to the numerous cities, towns, and villages across the Chicago area that have been affected. In the mean time, we are committed to continuing to provide the exceptionally high level of service our residents expect and deserve, and are grateful to those who have shown their support.
