After a busy weekend of fun, I returned to academic editing today. Decided to go out for a walk this evening and, when I returned, was greeted by a tanuki (racoon) in my garden. When I was a child, my father used to have one as a pet--as a consequence, Ive always had great fondness for them. Many years ago (maybe 2005), the Kanagawa prefectural government decided they were going to exteriminate them all (they are looked upon by some as pests). Seeing this beauty in my garden made me feel happy--the govs plan didnt get them all! I dont see them as often as I used to, but they are still around. Yeah! :-)
