After a fantastic win against Michigan, the Spartans and the SMB - TopicsExpress

After a fantastic win against Michigan, the Spartans and the SMB are very excited for the upcoming game against The Ohio State University. The SMB has prepared a “Veterans Day Americana Tribute” show, honoring our country and those who serve it. This show will be filled with tunes that everyone should know, and is a real crowd-pleaser! On Saturday, November 8, MSU faces The Ohio State University Buckeyes with a kickoff time of 8:14 p.m. This weeks pregame show will include a special selection for the Spartan student section, entitled Am I wrong by Nico & Vinz, arranged by MSU wind conducting graduate student Jared Staub. The halftime show will consist of several of the tunes that best represent our country. The show will start out with a medley of Aaron Copland’s “Fanfare for the Common Man,” and Morton Gould’s “American Salute,” creatively titled “Salute to the Common American.” The second tune is called the “Armed Forces Medley.” This includes representative tunes from all of the branches of the United States Military. The last tune starts out as “America the Beautiful,” and transitions to John Philip Sousa’s “Starts and Stripes Forever” to end the show. The music for this show was arranged by Dr. Cormac Cannon and Professer John Madden, with drill written by Dr. Cannon. Percussion arrangements written by Jon Weber. A special “shout out” to SMB Color Guard instructor Peter Eichler for his coordination of many props and special visual effects in this production! This show will certainly show our pride and dedication to our country, ironically during Election week! Join us at Adams Field for the 6:45 p.m. warm-up, at 7:15 p.m. for the march to the stadium, and at 8:00 p.m. for kickoff as the Spartans take on the Buckeyes. The Ohio State Marching Band will also be performing at pregame and half time, as well as for postgame with the SMB. Feel free to come and join us for our rehearsal earlier in the day at 1:00 p.m. if youd like a preview of the show! The Ohio State Band will be rehearsing at 3:15 p.m. on Ralph Young Field.
