After a five-month struggle with NYC, I just picked up my mothers birth certificate - the last document I need for Italian citizenship. Warning to NYers: if you have children and dont have your long form certs, get them and save them. Someday your children might need them to prove identity, and NY law says they cant have them without 100% proper proof. My mothers cert had one discrepancy, and they made me go to court to obtain the cert. Now on to dealing with Italy.
