After a good breakfast and a couple of cortados I headed off to the start of X-Terra Sweden. After rowing across from the island and jumping in the car, I was sitting on the motorway mentally going throwing my day when I realised that I had forgotten my wetsuit! Back to the car park, row back to the island, run back to the house, grab suit and start from the beginning again. I managed to not panic, but getting to a race of this size one hour before you start isnt the best. I borrowed a bottle holder off Kenneth at the last minute just to add to my nerves. To cut a long story short I crashed once on the bike, fell over twice on the run and got blisters after just 3km running from not wearing socks. I have come to the conclusion that if I dont bleed by the end of a race then I am not really trying. I am glad to say that in spite of all my rookie mistakes I won my age group with the 7th fastest bike split overall. This qualifies me to race at the World Championships on Hawaii in a couple of months :D I would like to thank Kristian for his support and giving me the idea of coming here to begin with and Blomman and Maria for lending me their house and car while they were away sailing :) #running26 #xterrasweden #maxxis #222cycles #malteni
