After a great lunch today with Antonio Allegretti and Cathy Schaeffer Chambers, Ive been convinced that downtown Jacksonville is changing for the better, thanks to people like Tony, Shad Khan, the 50+ restaurants and the many young entrepreneurs making a difference in downtown. Now, we need some momentum for a new convention center to draw visitors to our city, some things for them to do every/any night, a great annual music/arts festival, some creative uses of all the great water surrounding our city, dare I say a great soccer/multipurpose stadium, and some events and downtown themes with staying power. Three weeks ago I was depressed about the prospects. I feel much better now and feel like its coming!
