After a horrible, long, frustrating night I got to watch the 2005 movie version of The Producers by Mel Brooks, adapted from the Broadway musical by Mel Brooks, which was itself adapted from the original 1964 move about Broadway musicals by Mel Brooks! Loved it! The changes from the original 1964 movie were perfect for translating into a Broadway musical! The cast was actually stellar. We all know that Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick can knock it out of the park, but when I saw Will Ferrell and Uma Thurman were in the movie I though it smacked of stunt casting until they both absolutely nailed their parts! Add a bleached blonde John Barrowman as the picture of the German Uber Mench singing Spring Time For Hitler and you have yourself a perfect little gem of a musical!
