After a long, frustrating day, I forced myself (dont take this the wrong way) to go to the high school choir concert. Even though I was rushing frantically through my evening in order to make it, I arrived quite late. There was no place to park. The usher wouldnt let me in right away, even though Im rather important. Apparently he was too busy doing his job and only letting people enter between songs, and I dont think he knew who I was...Sheesh. As the concert progressed, the music became more and more glorious and the tears just kept welling. I almost made it out in one piece until Mr Shelley came running in just before the last song with four year old son Miles on his shoulders, with shouts of God Bless Us Every One. When Miles started to conduct the Acapella choir in I Saw Three Ships (my favorite Christmas song), it was all over. I havent cried like that since I saw South Pacific on Broadway. Thank you, Jim Wilcock, for that moment of catharsis. You are an amazing educator and your choirs sang beautifully. I totally needed that today.
