After a query by Chris Wright the other day about what kind of nib - TopicsExpress

After a query by Chris Wright the other day about what kind of nib Segar used to draw his Thimble Theater (Popeye) comics and the subsequent conversation that boiled down to two nib brands popular at the time (Esterbrook and Gillot) I began to do research online. I came to the Esterbrook Radio Pen #914 as a likely candidate and ordered a couple vintage 1927 nibs, which just arrived today. The Esterbrook #914 is famous for being the nib Schulz used to draw Peanuts. Legend has it when Esterbrook closed down he bought up the remaining stock of nibs from the company and the Schulz estate has a stockpile somewhere. Having fun trying it out. Will start using it on actual drawings/comics next...
