After a tough night in Altrincham, the Bradfield Brewery Sheffield - TopicsExpress

After a tough night in Altrincham, the Bradfield Brewery Sheffield Steeldogs are focusing on the challenges ahead. Thursday night’s game against the Manchester Phoenix ended in an 8-2 win for the home side. Goals from Andy Hirst and Janis Ozolins were all the Dogs had to show for their efforts as they tried to come back from a 5-0 first period. Player/Coach Andre Payette was disappointed by the result but realistic about the additional challenge that mid-week games present, “there are only two guys in the team who don’t work during the week and when you have guys not finishing their day jobs til 4pm or 5pm and then having to drive to the game, it’s far from ideal – especially when you are playing against a team of full-time professionals who are rested and sat waiting for us. Full marks to Manchester, they did their job and our focus now moves on to the weekend ahead and Milton Keynes. “We are looking forward to our mini play-off series against the Lightning, playing them home and away will be great. Both teams know what’s at stake as we are fighting for places in the league. These games are typically very physical and the guys are looking forward to getting back to the form we have shown. I’m sure we will show that the results over the past ten games are what this team is about, more than one Thursday night”. Lubomir Korhon made his return to the team this week so Sunday’s game will be your first opportunity to see him and Ozi at iceSheffield, so get yourself down to The Pound for a 5.30 face-off as the Steeldogs take on MK. Dont miss this weeks SteeldogsTV - its a cracker! youtu.be/UGJNiyT42fg
