After a weeks rest North warnborough were back to it in the cup yesterday afternoon hoping to grab a win after going on their dismal losing streak, but improving massively with each game.. It saw them play Sherbourne ST John and they soon were 2 - 0 down after 20 minutes which gave the impression they were going to lose yet another game. A scrappy goal led to Warnborough pulling one back at half time. The second half was more of the same and warnborough soon conceded a third in which you would have thought game over. Warnborough suddenly sprung into life with Jason Williams grabbing a goal back and with around 15 minutes to go Pete Hodgson netted a quality chip to equalise. Just when the game looked to be heading into extra time with 5 minutes to go the unlikeliest of heroes stepped to grab what was thought to be the winner. Kieran perry got a shot away from just inside the box after Sherbourne struggles to get the ball away and the ball drifted over the keeper and into the back of the net. 4-3. With seconds remaining Warnborough settled the game when a ball was lofted behind the defence and Ryan Thorpe took one touch to knock it in front of him and slotted home a left foot strike to conceal sherbournes fate. Final whistle 5-3. A great battle and heart was shown from all the lads in the second half. On to the next round...
