After admitting to using my essay After the Fire w/out permission, - TopicsExpress

After admitting to using my essay After the Fire w/out permission, notification, or compensation, but insisting, per my notes, that it was 100% human error, Refinery29s editor-in-chief Christine Arzeno and their in-house counsel Sara Marston hung up on me. They would not answer how said human error occurred. They said Nerve cleared the rights w/ all photographers and writers. I assured them Nerve did no such thing. They said this conversation was unproductive and would email me their contact person at Nerves name, b/c they would have to research it b/c it wasnt nearby. I explained I dont want money, but a public apology, stating what they did and that they will never do it again to me or to another writer. They said theyre looking at that possibility but they dont know if [they] can make it happen. I asked, Why not? They said it was unprecedented. I explained that their jobs, as editor-in-chief and as in-house counsel, was to think on their feet. They said, This conversation is unproductive. I asked why they wouldnt give me the contact information at Nerve. They reiterated, This conversation is unproductive. Also, We know this is a sensitive subject matter. Like I said, then they hung up.
